... miles and miles of white sugar sand beach and really warm sea...
Be sure to wear plenty of sun-screen or you WILL burn! (sun reflection off the white sand! )
Afterwards, go to the revolving restaurant at the top of the Holiday Inn for a spectacular meal - and even better views of the coast line.
Wish I was there now! _________________ Les

I must say that i always loved visiting Kennedy Space Centre.
Coming from Northern Ireland, we don't even have many tall buildings, and then to visit the rocket Garden, thats just amazing.
You never really realize the size of these incredible machines. Even the buildings, and the tracks for moving the rockets, and the launch pads all amazing.
I would love to visit during a launch, everytime we visit we have to check the website to see if any are scheduled. We are planning another trip in February, and there appears to be a scheduled launch, the only problem is, its a satelite launch, and we were not sure if this is the same as a shuttle launch. Hopefully someone will be able to help me decide if this would be worth seeing anyway. _________________ Craig

Jim,
I have contacted Eli, a good friend who lives in Florida for those who do not know him.
Eli has suggested that there is no need to buy the special tickets for the launch, as he knows a very good spot just over 'the river' where you can see for free. Eli has been to about eleven launches and loves each one more than the last, and has invited us to join him for this next launch in February, an offer which we fully intend accepting.
he tells us that each launch lasts only about forty seconds visually, but the noise, atmosphere and memories last a whole lot longer.
If we are lucky enough to catch a launch we will post some photos for you all. If anyone else has any photos, please let me know, and we will post them on the site. _________________ Craig

I've found a big difference between the beaches at Clearwater and St Pete's and the Altlantic ones at Cocoa is that the East coast has a coarse sand like ground up shells , where the Gulf Coast sand is so fine and powdery it just runs out of your hands. Big advantage of Cocoa is that it takes half the time to get there from Kissimmee!
Lesleys right about the sun block - I've often come back from Clearwater looking like a lobster - after just a couple of hours on the beach!!
