Hi everyone,
have any of you ever tried Cracker Barrel Old Country Store?
it is the one with the rockers on the porch, and the Retail Shop!
It is great good old country style cooking(and Burgers) and Fish & Chips on Friday Very Happy Great Pancakes, and eggs in a basket is my favorite Laughing
By the way the chips are good thick ones like England not flimsy thin ones.
Shop is great if your looking for a differant gift, lots of nostalgia sweets & toys, Gift wrap is free as well!
Well also let me tell you the staff are the best Friendly, helpfull can't do enough for you especially in the shop part. Does it sound like I have a vested interest in this place? Embarassed YES I DO it is where I work I'm the English woman in the shop and have been for 8 years and really enjoy it.
I would enjoy hearing some feedback from you good or bad.
If you have not visited give it a try it is very differant to all the other restaurants, Ladies Shop while you wait for your food Shocked
Sorry I went on a bit Embarassed
Regards Linda....

Linda,

We visited Crackerbarrel the last time we were in Florida.

We went in to look for a payphone, and came out about forty minutes later. The shop part is great. Some really neat gifts.

Our to-do list is ever growing, but perhaps we will give this one a visit, there is one literally just down the road from us.

We let you know when we get home!!

Hi Linda - do you work in the one just along the 192 (Turning left at Poinciana Blvd Junction on left hand side- pretty near to our condos?

I have been in there a couple of times - but not recently I have to say. My sister is a collector of teddy bear ornaments (collectors pieces - can't think of the name offhand) - and Cracker Barrel sells them.

The staff tell you that your table is not quite ready so you walk around the store (and spend) right?!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though, its a nice restaurant - didn't come across an English waitress but will watch out for her next time!!!

Hi Linda,

We went to the Cracker Barrel on the OBT when it first opened about a year ago and - (sorry to say this!) vowed we would not go back to that one. The shop was very nice but the meal was not. A couple of things we ordered from the menu they did not have - unusual for Florida (but not for England! Laughing ) so we had to change. The young guy who was serving us took forever over the order, and half an hour later brought us someone else's order. I think he was just a trainee. He then dropped a tray of drinks on the floor beside our table splashing us with drink and showering us with shards of glass. The manager was very apologetic but the damage had been done and we left as soon as we finished the meal. Judging from the managers face the guy who served us would be looking for a new job the following day! Rolling Eyes
It certainly hasn't put us off Cracker Barrel completely - we may try again but it won't be the OBT one.

Only done the one on 192 by Formosa, I actually dont rate the breakfasts that much, but the lunches and dinners are very good.

Hi everyone thanks for the feed back, I worked in the 192 store for 6 years in the shop part, but now work at the one on OBT, sorry for your experiance there Kevin I know it can be very annoying when you have the problems you had in the restaurant, but there have been a lot of changes since we opened for the better! Maybe you could try again even another one, it really is good food.
I actually work in the shop, it is good fun I get to talk to everyone, and I love to meet people,(serving food is not for me). Cool
Bye for now Linda.....

Linda,
I'm sure that our experience in the restaurant was a "one off " We really
liked the shop and would certainly have looked around more if it hadn't
been for the server in the restaurant. We are often around that way as my in-laws often use the Supertarget and we sometimes go to the pharmacy and TGI Fridays there. Now we know you're in the shop we may just call in again! Very Happy

Been meaning to reply to this one.

We ate here twice in Feb. Once was for breakfast, lots and lots to eat. Too much for me, i am not a big fan of the huge breakfast.

The second time was in the evening with Linda, and I really enjoyed it. Can't comment on the speed of the service, we held them up. We were talking so much it took us ages to even look at the menu! They had to come back several times to see if we were ready to order. I think the boys were too busy comparing notes on Expedition Everest at this stage.

We had the pork chops and they were lovely. Finishing touch was the Coca Cola cake ...yummy yummy.

Worth a second chance Kevin
