Never stayed in the Kissimee area before now but booked in the Best Western lakeside for 2 weeks. Read a few reviews on the hotel first which generally rate it well but any insider knowledge on the hotel and surrounding area?

If it's the Best Western I'm thinking of....on Hwy 192 east of Disney you will find the location very convenient for all the parks. Disney's main entrance is just less than 2 miles away (about 5 minutes drive). Seaworld will be about 10 - 15 mins and Universal about 20 - 25 minutes.
As with most of the hotels in the Kissimmee and Orlando areas the standard will probably be suitably high. I'm sure you'll have a great stay. Very Happy

Sounds like the place Kevin. Have stayed on or near I-drive the previous three trips so was'nt sure whether Kissimmee would be a tad quiet or we would'nt be able to walk to restaurants of an evening. Only been to Kissimmee once to visit old town!

There are dozens and dozens of restaurants, shops, dinner shows, indoor flea markets, crazy golf areas and small malls along Hwy 192 in Kissimmee. I would however recommend using a rental car as Hwy 192 stretches for m-i-l-e-s.

Apart from the distance between shops, restaurants etc. there is a distinct lack of pavements. There is a local bus service (Lynx) and buses do run along the more heavily populated 192 areas. (There's even a bus that travels regularly from the Osceola Mall (East 192) to Disney).

I'm sure that you will enjoy the "Kissimmee end of town" and have a great time.
